I’ve been pumping weights and messing around with the science of “dieting” since I was a Freshman in college. Even before that tender age of 17, I had dreams and ambitions of sporting 6-pack for as long as I can remember. Recently becoming “certified” as a personal trainer, hasn’t changed much of my knowledge base. You can have 15 different certifications, a masters degree in sports medicine, and kinesiology, and STILL not be a qualified trainer. What a talented trainer needs to have, first and foremost, is MOTIVATION! You need someone to listen to what works for you-
Do you thrive off of praise, or does humiliation work better for you?
Do you enjoy compliments and reassurance, or do you want/need someone calling you a ‘maggot!’ in order to get you going?
You need someone to hold you accountable. Someone that will drive you the way you need to be driven. I’ve personally been through several challenges, and am lucky to be alive today. If I didn’t have the ability to lose my self-destructive thoughts, and bottled-up anger and aggression inside of a gym (through sweating my ass off), I’m not certain I’d be writing this right now.
Whether you are just starting out and need some guidance, or if you already know how to work your body to it’s max potential and just need some direction with nutrition, I am like a flashlight during a shitty power outage. You know the kind that leaves your water freezing cold in the morning when you need to take a hot shower to get ready for work?
